The state of Tabasco is located at the Southeast of the Mexican Republic, between geographical coordinates 17° 15’ and 18° 39’ north latitude; 91° 00’ and 94°17’ west longitude. Its surface covers 24,661 km2, which represents 1.3% of the whole country, having 2 million inhabitants. It has a border with the Gulf of Mexico and the state of Campeche; at east with Campeche and Republic of Guatemala; at south with the state of Chiapas, and west with the state of Veracruz. Because of its geographical location, Tabasco is considered the entrance to the Mundo Maya (Mayan World) and an obligated route from the center of the country to the peninsula of Yucatan, Chiapas, Belize and Guatemala. |

Through national highway 180 it is possible to arrive to Tabasco from Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz; also, in the same road but at opposite site, from east to west, you can reach this state from Quintana Roo, Yucatan and Campeche. If you are located at Chiapas you can arrive to Tabasco through highway 195.
